When we started Email Service Guide we intended to make a searchable guide to help clear up the email hosting jungle. The initial feedback has been great and we have expanded our guide in several ways based on the early responses. But we realized there was a void in the email sector online. Not only had no-one really created a comprehensive guide before – there weren’t even any blogs or news sites dedicated to the topic. Google “email news” or “email blog” and all you find is the automatic emailing feature of various news sites.

This struck us as a little odd given how important email has become in our everyday lives. According to Pew Internet & American Life Project Tracking surveys between 2000 and April 2009, 90% of all American internet users send or read e-mail online. The numbers are certain to be similar around the developed world.

You could think that e-mail simply does not change much. As we’ll show you in our articles to come this is far from true. Service like Life IO and Google Wave are at the gates ready to change e-mail as we know it. And that is why I am very happy to announce the news section of Email Service Guide. We will give you the front line news, reviews and analysis of the still growing and ever so quickly evolving field of e-mail.
