About a month ago we reviewed a cool iPhone app called reMail. When we wrote the review we used version 2.5.
Now, a half month after being announced that they had submitted version 2.6 to the App Store, it’s has finally been approved and is available for download through iTunes.
I reached out to Gabor (the founder of reMail) to ask him about the new features in 2.6. Gabor told me that in addition to various bug-fixes, they’ve added push notification and improved the speed on person searches. Also, 2.6 is now free, and you can then use the new in-app feature that was introduced in iPhone OS 3.0 to upgrade to the premium features.
As I’m writing this post, I just read a tweet from reMail saying that they have just submitted version 2.7 for approval. The tweet states that 2.7 is mainly about bugfixes. If that’s true or if they say that to not hurt the short-term sales is for you to decide.
Update: Turns out they shipped reMail 2.6 without making a proper amount of QA. Hence the quick 2.7 release. Version 2.6 was shipped with the following bugs that have been resolved in 2.7 (from the blog-post):
- “Clear Search History” and “Clear Attachment Cache” make reMail crash
- Email accounts can’t be deleted. (You can use iPhone Home > Settings > reMail to Reset all data as a workaround, but will need to re-download the mail from other accounts)
- “Time estimate to complete download” is displayed incorrectly in some cases
