In a rather surprising move, Yahoo recently announced that they have upped the maximum attachment size to 100MB. That by itself might not be very exciting. I personally hate people who email large attachments since email was never intended as a file transfer method. That brings me to why Yahoo’s announcement is noteworthy.
Instead of simply increasing the allowed attachment size, Yahoo teamed up with drop.io. By integrating drop.io’s API into Yahoo Mail, we got a much more intelligent type of attachement system. When sending a message, a link to the attachment is sent instead of the actual attachment. That means a much leaner and happier mailbox.
