The Peek email device: Why?

Peek LogoIf you have never heard about it, the Peek is very a simple device dedicated to one thing: email. It’s roughly the size of your average smartphone and comes with a color screen and a qwerty keyboard. That’s it. No fancy features, just basic email access in your pocket.

The Peek comes in two different versions: Peek Pronto and Peek Classic. The Pronto is priced at $59.95, and the Classic at $19.95. However, the phone is not very useful without a plan. The plans starts at (and you know what that really means…) $14.95 per month. For that price, you get unlimited email access nation wide (U.S.) from your Peek.

The problem is this: it doesn’t even beat your iPhone/BlackBerry on the one thing it was created for, namely email. This brings me to the big question: why would you ever get a Peek?

Zimbra Introduces Zimbra Collaboration Suite 6.0

Zimbra LogoToday Zimbra announced version 6.0 of their popular collaboration software. So what makes this update so amazing that they had to skip several numbers from version 5.4? Rumors are already flying that this is a publicity stunt during a potential sale of the company. Is there enough meat in this release? Lets take a look.

Open-Xchange adds support for Push and Over-The-Air Synchronization

Open-XchangeThe up-and-coming collaborating software Open-Xchange today announced a new mobility add-on to their platform. Thew new add-on is named OXtender for Business Mobility (apparently that’s the shortest name they could come up with).

For those of you who never heard about Open-Xchange before, it is an open source groupware software. In many ways, it resembles Microsoft Exchange (hence the name Open-Xchange).
